- St John of Beverley, patron saint of the Deaf
- 'One of the most powerful things is personal example and this story sets us a good example. Of course the best example to us is given by Jesus. We should follow his example’. A.A.
- 'I like the story of our patron saint’ I.W., W.S., J.G., M.R.
- 'This reminds me of the good Samartan, who is an example of how we should live our lives to help others who are less fortunate’. E.D
- 'I think this is a good example of true Christianity as we are all cared for by God’ E.B.
- 'It was good that the saint was kind to a deaf boy’ G.G
- I don’t know of any other patron saint of the deaf. Did John of Beverley have a hearing loss himself? (I have not heard of any other patron saint of he deaf. I don’t know if the saint suffered a hearing loss. So little is known of the saint except this one story of helping a deaf boy. The saint lived about 1,400 years ago in 7th century. The amazing thing is that his act of kindness to a deaf boy is remembered for which he himself is honoured as saint.)
- Pentecost story- 3 pictures of (1) wind (2) fire (3) speaking in other tongues/languages
- ‘Who the holy Spirit is- is one of the most difficult questions for Christians. But in faith we are asked to believe in him. The pictures of wind, fire and tongies help us to understand the mystery, the way he works and his power. When the Spirit comes the Church revives. In Scotland we need revival. Let’s pray for that!.’ A.A
- 'In this multi-faith world we must learn about other faiths and try to understand are all the same underneath’ E.D.
- 'I think they give a true image and feel myself that there is a time of revival of Christianity coming soon’. E.B. [I hope so A.K]
- Psalm 23 – ‘The Lord is my shepherd…’
- ‘God is unseen by everyone but this is an example- of how powerful Jesus conveyed his loving message for the world to live by his word’ E.D. (in that Jesus called himself ‘the good shepherd’.
- ‘This has always been a favourite psalm of mine and includes everything I believe in’ E.B.
